Free Staff Rotation Add On Software
This software works only with Nova T6 but is certainly not in competition with it.
A very simple example: suppose that a year 7 block has three linear groups (A, B and C) and that the pupils in each group study English (En), History (Hi), Geography (Gg) and R.E. (Re). Suppose that the current arrangement of staff is as follows:

In the above example, whereas each group will have a different English teacher, there are only two Re teachers involved; Re1 is down to teach 7A and 7B while Re2 is down to teach 7C.
Clearly, it is necessary that somebody must be available on each period for a fit to be produced; if the existing arrangement does not work then, say, swopping teachers Re1 and Re2 between groups 7B and 7C and Geography teachers Gg1 and Gg2 between groups 7A and 7B may work. In practice (and especially towards the end of the timetable), it can be hard to spot any necessary changes.
The software will deal with more complicated situations than the one described above, including a better handling of the spread of staff periods across a two week timetable; these are described more fully in the manual that accompanies the software download.
